FDBA needs to locate Florida residents who are deaf-blind, deaf with vision loss, or visually impaired with hearing loss.
Some are born with such losses, which affect their parents or guardians, family members, and surrounding environment. Others experience serious vision and hearing losses as they get older. Often these sensory losses are so gradual the limitations of having a dual-sensory impairment isn’t recognized until well into the later years. Many people, who experience this quality-of-life loss, accept it as part of the aging process. They start wearing glasses, get fitted for hearing aids, assume this is all they can do, and believe they must put up with it. NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH! Such individuals tend to withdraw from their usual activities as the problem either is present or gets worse. They often isolate themselves because they don’t know how to cope or act in a world that has become foreign and hostile to them. Florida Deaf-Blind Association is dedicated to helping people of all ages experience the same quality of life that everyone has the right to enjoy. If you, or someone you know, could benefit from learning how to take dual-sensory losses in stride and enjoy life to the fullest, please contact the FDBA representatives below to learn more.
Please click the person's name in order to contact and correspond with our FDBA regional representatives. Thank you.
Note: Please click each regional counties to find out which counties they represent. |
